Last night Microsoft published another article on its Building Windows 8 blog and I think it’s the best article yet. They announced how they have tweaked the way Windows 8 will boot up and shut down to make it much faster. This new method is a combination of hibernate and full shut down in that the kernel is hibernated while the rest of the OS is shut down.
Now that might sound boring but the effect it has on boot times is pretty amazing, just watch the video below.
8 seconds?! Incredible.
Now I am not sure whether to look forward to the Metro UI or fast boot more, I do wonder though if Microsoft could make Windows 8′s boot faster but marketing got in the way of getting it any quicker than 8 seconds ;)
I can’t wait for what else Microsoft have to announce and demo and at the current rate of announcements some of that might even be announced before Build.
