Microsoft have released their 3rd video today about building Windows 8 and its a very interesting video showing how the company plans to overhaul the copy experience within Explorer in the next version of Windows. This included things such as a single place for all copy jobs on Windows and options to pause/resume and cancel any copy job. Microsoft has also refined many of the UI elements involved in copying, such as when presented with conflicting file names and when copying to the recycle bin. The video is well worth a watch to see what is coming in Windows 8.
However, there’s another reason to watch too and that’s right at the beginning when Alex Simmons introduces himself and there’s a screen behind him showing Windows 8.
This is a very interesting development and points, as so much has already done, that Windows 8 will have a new UI for the Immersive Experience as well as the classic UI. This new UI is very likely to be based on the Metro UI popularised by Zune and Windows Phone.
What I’d like to point out is that I put forward the idea of Microsoft using a new Metro UI based Windows logo quite some time ago and my idea looks quite like the new icon seen above.
Have you spotted any other new things in the videos Microsoft have recently released about Windows 8?
