Experian Hitwise realised UK search data for the month of July in which Bing has been shown to do very well, growing a whole 0.96% in a single month. There was more good news for Microsoft as Bing has regained it’s lead over Yahoo in the UK search market and also Bing is the only search engine in the UK to grow its market share year on year.

Robin Goad, Research Director of Experian Hitwise had this to say of the news, “The gains made by Microsoft Sites this month are almost exactly equal to the losses suffered by Google, which means that some of the searches that were being conducted on Google engines last month are now being typed into Bing.”
Sadly Bing still only has a small percentage of the UK market but maybe if it could continue to grow at nearly a full percentage point for the next few months it might start to make some real impact on the UK search landscape. If Microsoft ever decided to release a HTML5 version of Bing that might see its market share increase and it is hoped that the same will happen if Windows Phone starts to do well, maybe Mango will start that off.
