This is exciting news for PC gamers and something that has been a long time coming; Games for Windows Marketplace will be moving over to xbox.com! Microsoft have made an announcement on the Games for Windows forum on xbox, com. They say:
Games for Windows Marketplace will fully transition over to Xbox.com. Now you can get all of your gaming needs in one place. It’s convenient, it’s concentrated, and it’s a whole lot of great games.
Microsoft has told Eurogamer that this merger will take place on July 11th.
I find this very interesting news as it wasn’t so long ago that Microsoft updated the Games for Windows website and PC client. To me this only reinforces my belief that Xbox will become the consumer entertainment brand of Microsoft across all platforms. If you want games, TV shows, films and music its Xbox that Microsoft will want you to use.
I wonder how much longer Games for Windows will continue to exist, I don’t imagine it is very long. The next question is when will there be an Xbox client for our PCs.
