Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of the Metro UI that Microsoft has developed first for Zune and Windows Phone but now also the Xbox 360 and Windows 8. I have written several posts about great Metro designs I have seen by fans and this post is another one of them, however this is actually something you can use now.
This design I am about to show you might not strictly comply with all the Metro guidelines but I think the influence of Metro is quite clear to see with the Segoe font, block colours and wide area for content. I am in the process of creating a new website for someone and was looking around for some interesting themes on WordPress.org when I stumbled across Minimatica.

Minimatica is a brand new theme, only being posted 8 days ago and I think it looks great; I imagine this will be especially good for photographers. In the screenshot below you can see more of the Metro inspired theme.

I know there are quite a few Microsoft blogs out there that have a Metro inspired theme (much like this one), but this theme is the first time I have seen a Metro-esque theme on WordPress.org itself. I guess that with Microsoft’s focus on using the Metro UI on all its platforms we are likely to see more and more theme inspired by it. Whilst we are on the topic of Metro I have some big things planned for Typography and Squares.
Have you seen any other Metro inspired themes for websites available for anyone to use?
Update: The designer of the theme has contacted me to let me know that he’s never heard of the Metro UI before, I guess the Segoe font just works best with block colours.
