Bing UK have launched a new site today showing users just how beautiful Bing is and some of its great features. The site is at http://www.thisbeautifulthing.co.uk/ and is a video of someone using Bing with a tropical island background. The odd thing is the video is built with Flash and not Silverlight; annoyingly.

I have noticed over the past few days that there are a lot of adverts across the web for Bing, most that seem to feature creatures from tropical locations. It looks like Bing is on a new advertising offensive with some new TV based ads for the US too. A point to note is that with the TV ads the Bing homepage have moving backgrounds which I can only assume is coming soon with the HTML5 enabled version.
The IE team will be holding an event in San Francisco on the 10th in which they are expected to announce and release the Release Candidate of IE9 and as Bing HTML5 was demoed at the launch of the beta I can only hope that the HTML5 version will be released to the public then too.
In other Bing news today it’s search share in the US seems to still be on the rise with Experian Hitwise announcing that Bing powered searches accounted for 27.44% in January up from 25.77% in December, that’s a growth of 6%. Quite impressive. That left Google with 67.95%, still a long way for Bing to go. I’m still waiting for more fighting between Google and Microsoft over the accusations of copying.
One final piece of news via @Henryed07, a follower of mine of Twitter, is that it looks like Bing Entertainment might be on its way to the UK at some point. When searching for movies in the UK the following text is included at the bottom “Bing Entertainment – Music – Movies – TV – Games – Events”. However none of these of words are links, sadly, but this could well indicate an imminent arrival.
