I thought the Desktop Gadgets were pretty much dying out with no real emphasis on them since the launch of Windows 7 and the Gallery not having received an update in years. However today I just happened to look at the Windows 7 Desktop Gadgets showcase today and noticed that there was a Bing gadget I hadn’t seen before.

I thought I would investigate what this gadget was and it turns out its a simple, yet pretty, gadget to search with Bing. The thing with this gadget is that it uses the Bing image of the day as the background which makes it different from some of the other Bing apps I have seen. The most interesting thing about this gadget is that its created by Microsoft and was released on November 3rd.

I played with the app briefly and it performs as you would expect although its a shame that the image can’t be made any bigger, it just remains a small image.
