I’ve just published an article over at michaelgillettonline.com concerning where I expect and would like to see the Zune heading over the coming months whenever Microsoft update the service and software; here’s the beginning of the article.
I have long been wondering what we can expect to from Microsoft with its entertainment service, Zune, when it next receives an update. There are some things we currently know that will be coming over the coming months but there are a few things I’d like to see.
We know that Zune will be going international in time for the global launch of Windows Phone 7 however we have yet to know all the countries that will begetting Zune. You could argue that Zune is already international in that users can access Zune on their Xboxes to watch films however I am far more interested in getting access to the Zune music on my PC. I already use the Zune Software on my PCs all the time and have a Zune 8GB but to me the best part of the Zune service seems to be the Zune Pass, but I haven’t yet been able to use it and that is what will be most exciting when the Zune service goes international.
Despite not having access to the full Zune experience here in the UK I’d like to think I know a lot about how the service works, its features and how to access it and I have come to the conclusion there are a few things missing from Microsoft and the service that could help make it more useful and more widely used.
Go read the article to see how I think Zune should be integrated into Messenger and Bing, how it should be more social and how Microsoft could increase people’s awareness of Zune through concerts and the like.
