As I told you yesterday today was going to be a good day for Windows Live fans with information and images at least about Messenger being released today, well in actual fact there has been more than I thought being reported today.
Messenger
The site, www.windowslivepreview.com, did actually go live earlier this morning, although I can access it now, and LiveSide were able to take a few pictures of the site in action.
LiveSide were able to note some of the information provided as seen in the image below from a page and the bullet point list of the features of Windows Live Wave 4 Messenger against competing IM services.
- Real time photo and video sharing
- Hi def video chat
- video messages
- real time gaming
- social networks aggregation
- integration with email inbox
- IM to SMS integration
- iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Phone, and Nokia apps
- Partner APIs
Another interesting image that was on the site was one that showed being able to send a Facebook message to a contact from within the Messenger client which seems pretty useful and I hope we can interact with Facebook more than just through messages.

Then came news from Neowin that they knew just how the Messenger client for iPhone/iPod was going to look thanks to being provided with lots of images of it.
There are more pictures over at Neowin but from these pictures you can see how users will be able to view the “What’s New” feed from the social button on the bottom, users can add and view friends much like on the desktop, can see the current conversations they have going and can share and view their photos, I guess through SkyDrive. For the iPhone/iPod Touch users I am sure this is great news and follows three other apps for Apple’s mobile devices from Microsoft like Bing.
Today is certainly gearing up to be a good day for Windows Live fans and you’ll certainly want to keep an eye on http://windowslivepreview.com and http://messengerpreview.com today as its thought more information will be posted and you never know there might be a release of some kind.
