As Ian points out in the comments below this Mac client has been known about since the first Kin announcement, I just clearly missed it. It wont be a true Zune piece of software but it will allow music from iTunes to be put on the Kin devices.
John Starkweather who is part of the Kin team has been on GDGT today answering questions and has revealed something quite interesting. One reader asked in the discussion if there will be a Windows Phone 7/Kin/Zune client for Macs to which I helpfully replied saying that the way the Kin works it syncs everything to the cloud so no need for a Mac client, however I was then informed that to set the device up it first requires a physical connection to the Zune Software. Anyway John Starkweather then answered his question saying:
There will be a MAC client for KIN users!
What this means I am not fully sure, perhaps the client will exist as a Silverlight app that can run on Macs or this could mean that the Zune software is coming to Macs within the next few weeks. There has long been requests by Mac users for the Zune software to come to the OS but so far it hasn’t happened, maybe this new “hipster” focussed phone from Microsoft has made them change their mind about the Zune Software for Macs.
If anyone knows anything about this please let me know.
