Microsoft Show Image Of Turtle Phone
I had shared this earlier in an update to a previous post but thought that it warranted its own post too (I know you gadget lovers out there just want to the juicy info rather than my thoughts). On Microsoft’s page for their live stream of the Project Pink announcement they have a few images which I had a close look at and found in the far left photo there is a mysterious device, well its not actually that mysterious as it looks exactly like the Turtle device that is part of Project Pink.
Its a shame we can’t see more of the devices or the OS its nice to see another image of the Project Pink device…even if it might not be a piece of stunning design.

Well spotted plus today there is something for the consumer with the launch of Project Pink and the Developer with Visual Studio 2010 – busy day. Wonder what the phones will called I’m betting on “Windows Phone Social” not sure what the phones would be called Chat for Turtle and Text for Pure maybe. Who knows and how will they fit in with the existing ecosystem for Zune etc. Will there be a developer story for these devices for targeting social apps?

Its a very busy indeed, Adobe have also launched CS5. I have heard one name that makes a lot of sense to me, Windows Live Phone. People are aware of Windows Live through Messenger and Hotmail and the devices are expected to heavily integrate Windows Live services.
The OS isn’t thought to be built on top of Windows Phone 7 so I think the apps ecosystem will be very much like the Zune HD, ie Microsoft do most things for it, but if the OS is able to integrate many services there will less of a need for apps, also teens probably can’t afford/wont want many apps.

Windows Live Phone sounds better, and for the reasons stated like integrating with Live services but it could be Windows Phone Live or more but hopefully not a tie-in with a celebrity such as the Paris Hilton Phone etc. There was a Pink Phone in eXistenZ which was organic – so they’d want to at least avoid the code-name of Project Pink.

Looks like Kin is the name for Project Pink, Mary Jo Foley mentioned something about this and Gizmodo – and I have checked kin.com this is now a Microsoft domain, I actually checked it a few hours ago and it was still registered for Melbourne IT – so this is a recent change of domain data.
