Sorry for not being very active on here recently, I’ve had a lot of work to do for uni, however I thought I should probably share information about this.
Way back at about the time of CES this year we heard that Microsoft were planning an update for the Zune HD devices that would add support for more video formats and bring Smart DJ to the device, yesterday Microsoft reiterated this news with accompanying images and a video also showing off more functions of the TV mode of the device. Unfortunately they maintain the line that the update will be coming “soon”. The features like a very good addition to the device with streaming coming to the device from the Smart DJ feature and much increased selection of videos to watch, all of which I expect to incorporated into the Windows Phone 7 Series.
cnet have a great collection of images of the new features running on the device and TV and Engadget posted the below video. In the video the question of international availability is asked, with a response of “we remain committed to the Zune device in the US”, not a response I want to hear but it was certainly what I was expecting, however we do know that the Zune services will be international by the end of the year.
In other Zune news, yesterday Microsoft let slip on the Zune website that a Zune HD 64GB model is also likely to be coming soon.
