Microsoft Will Allow OEMs To Upgrade Devices To WP7

In a (currently live) QnA session to Alex Reeve, Director of the UK Mobile Business Group through their Twitter account, @WindowsPhoneUK, it would appear Microsoft wont stop OEMs offering an upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series. As seen in the below question and answer from the live blog or check out the question and answer.

Question from tracyandmatt

Will customers that have recently bought 6.5 handsets be able to upgrade to WP7 if their device meets minimum spec?

Answer

It’s early days yet, and that’s really for our hardware partners to think about

This is very exciting to hear and I just hope HTC offer an upgrade for the HD2.
