On the IEBlog the below was posted yesterday.
In addition to our engagement in the SVG Working Group, Doug Schepers, W3C Team Contact for the SVG Working Group, and I are going to be presenting SVG: The Past, Present and Future of Vector Graphics for the Web, at MIX 2010 in Las Vegas this coming March to share help developers understand where SVG is headed. At Microsoft we have been investigating how SVG can deliver graphics for the next generation of the Web Development. Its inclusion in HTML5 promises many opportunities for developers to enhance their sites. We will provide an overview of SVG and how the standard is evolving to support a broader range of applications on the Web.

As you probably know I am no developer but I do understand that it would be great for all those involved in the web and website development if Microsoft relied more on standards for its Trident rendering engine in Internet Explorer. It will also make the product much more competitive with its competition such as Google’s Chrome which already supports HTML5 (I think).
Microsoft have already confirmed they have more info to share with us at MIX and what with hardware acceleration coming to IE9 and possible a much more standards compliant rendering engine IE9 sounds like it could be a much needed improvement to Microsoft’s browser. Now if they would just include a ribbon or metro UI for it I will get very excited for IE9 and MIX 2010.
