Yesterday @Solar257 ( a Zune MVP) was having some issues uploading a video from a speech at the MVP Summit at Microsoft which I was hoping to watch as it was about Bing on Windows Phone 7 Series and the iPhone. Well I see the video has now been uploaded and I can watch it and I think there is something very interesting in the video.
When demoing Bing on the device at about 1:20 the presenter says:
We have put lot a of energy into making the search experience on the windows phone first with a lot of the richest you saw on the PC coming to the phone experience especially with the of the capabilities this will have like Silverlight.
Now I don’t know who the presenter was but I would imagine he knows more than we do about what is coming in Windows Phone 7 Series. Thanks to @Solar257 again I now know the presenter was Satya Nadella, Senior VP, R&D, Online Services Division and he would definitely know more about Windows Mobile 7 Series than more. Its also interesting that Silverlight has been mentioned with regards to making the Bing experience as good as possible so its likely we will see StreetSide and the Map Apps making an appearance on the mobile OS. I wonder also how far Bing’s augmented reality technology will go, will it be possible to look around a street with your device’s camera and have street names overlaid and even users’ photos from Flickr added over the top of buildings.
