Windows Live Wave 4: New Hotmail Pictures

Another day, another set of Windows Live Wave 4 pictures (can you guess who got them?) and this time they are of set of pictures of what Hotmail will look like soon.

windows_live_hotmail_wave4 As you can see there are a few small changes to the structure of the up coming Hotmail including:

  • Easily accessible options via the “cog” icon
  • Inbox and Folders are now separated so it is possible to collapse the folders list to save vertical space
  • Quick views has been added to allow access to specific content, including flagged content. From looking at at what is included in Quick views it could well exist across the whole online experience of Windows Live
  • Related places now has Home instead of Today as the Today screen will no longer exist in Wave 4
    windows_live_home_wave4_option
  • There has been a few changes to the top of the explorer box currently there is no title for the box
Hotmail title I doubt this indicates anything exciting and new to the right of the title box, but you never know
  • Finally under the “Arrange by” drop down menu there is the option for conversation mode, as we have been expecting to see

Looking forward to seeing more screenshots of Wave 4…oh and actually being able to use it.

Aren’t we all Gilly! I am getting fed up of waiting to be honest with you. Its far too long between updates in my opinion.

Windows Live Wave 4: Web Apps And Hotmail « My Microsoft Life (Apr 06, 2010)

[...] We have seen the new features of the sidebar before with Quick Views and I assume that any email with a Office document will be shown in the Documents section and any email with photos attached be shown in Photos. However what is new is the Messenger section which is very interesting not only because it looks to emulate Gmail’s IM placement within an online email service but also because I thought the new Web Messenger would be available on all Windows Live services which would remove the need to have it feature in the sidebar. one reason I can see for this section is to effectively pin favourites within Hotmail so users don’t need to open Web Messenger but can instantly see who is online from within their inbox, likely to be the Live service they spend most of their time anyway. Hotmail certainly looks placed to be the centre piece of the Windows Live online suite. [...]

You seem to know what’s going on with the new hotmail so hopefully you will be able to help me! Before this new change I could easily “right-click save-as” pictures from an email, but now this new “slide-show” format is crazy. I still have not figured out how to get a photo from email to my pictures??? Can you help??? Thanks, Doug
