New screenshots of Windows Live Wave 4 is a good way to start 2010 and thanks to Liveside and Livesino we have some new shots of Messenger to look at. This adds to the increasing collection of Wave 4 screenshots of Messenger and some of the other applications.
Other than the new tabbed windows for messages there doesn’t seem to be anything majorly new with the software. One quickly noticeable improvement is the added function in the thumbnail previews that will allow users to set their online appearance and that Messenger works nicely in Windows 7 and doesn’t require work around to stop a status indicator being treated as a single application.
The client window doesn’t look different at all from Wave 3 other than the tabs at the top of the window. I would hope that the tabs looks a little bit more shiny by the time Wave 4 is released, the current tabs are just a little boring; use of Aero would be nice.
There are more images of Messenger Wave on Liveside which show a refined selection of buttons and menus above the text area and a way to add photos from your PC, your online Photo folders or from Bing image search.
I am growing a little concerned with what we have seen of Wave 4 as all the changes seem to be necessary and often asked for improvements without any new, innovative features being added. It has been nearly a year since Wave 3 was officially launched and from has been seen the Wave 4 applications don’t look to be the work of a year’s worth of development. I just hope that this is because the Windows Live have been hard at work developing some new online services.
Great to see some more images of the Windows Live suite and lets hope we hear some more news soon, would it be too much to ask for news from CES next week?
