Just been listening to Chris Pendleton talking at the Bing Maps Web Cast and although most of the information went way over my head (it was mainly for devs) a couple of interesting points were made.
There will definitely be Bing Maps SDK out for Windows Mobile, he didn’t specify which versions of Windows Mobile, when we would see it or what would be included. It will be good to see some devs get to use the SDKs to create some competitive Bing Maps apps for Windows Mobile. One question was asking if we can expect to see an Bing Maps App for iPhone, Chris said he couldn’t say but said he was an iPhone user and would love to have an app.
Another interesting point is that the Street Side imagery for Bing Maps will be updated on the same time scale as the normal imagery releases and the focus will be on breadth of imagery and location before refreshing imagery. Chris even said the rest of the world will have Street Side “soon”. I do know that Navteq have been going around the UK in a car equipped with a camera so hopefully Street Side will come to the UK soon.
Oh and, somewhat predictably, Bing Maps will update to Silverlight 4 once it is released.
