I don’t know how it happened but I was in one of the earliest invitation roll outs for Google Wave and I was quite excited about it, however with few contacts on Wave it wasn’t much fun (not to mention that at the time I was getting internet on my PC through my phone).
So over the past few weeks more contacts have been added to Wave and I have to say I have opened Wave less and less, there is nothing there that compels me to use it. I think it is a good proof of concept but not much more. There are a few issues I have with its very nature the main being that with all other communication platforms I know where the latest update to the thread will be, either top or bottom, however with Wave you might have to trawl through a very long “Wave” or even “Wavelet” to find the latest update, not an efficient system.
Thinking about what I would want to see from a similar service I thought that there is no need to rewrite the way people keep in touch on the internet but just to combine all the various services into a single useable useful program.
There are other cases for this too, I have used several Twitter clients, some support searching, some support Facebook feeds, some integrate with photo services and it goes on. Now most of the internet services have APIs so developers can write a program to pull the data from those services, but why has no one thought about making a single program that developers can write plugins for so users can access all and any services they want to but not be locked in to only using a single photo uploading service/url shortening service etc etc.
Now I have been thinking about the below concept for some time and have finally put something together to show what I think would be an ideal way to merge the Google Wave idea with the current services and allow users to use any service like. I am sure it wouldn’t be too difficult for some of the webmail companies to make something along these lines to make a single place for users to find out all their social news.

Let me know what you think about it or if any developers want to start making something like this.
