Well I have finally got access to the new Office Web Apps, for some reason I wasn’t able to use them until late yesterday probably due to an expansion of the users who have access to the Technical Preview.

My first impressions were mixed, glad to finally have access but disappointed that Word isn’t usable and there is still such a long way to go before all the apps are really useful. Having said that though there are some good points already such as the auto save feature, I see the need for it in a browser because the internet could be temperamental and drop out so constant saving is needed. I just wonder if a similar addition will be making its way to the real applications with a list of previous editions found in the Back Stage screen.

I am now looking forward to the beta version of these apps to really be able to use them as see just how useful they will be as a companion to the real applications.
